Assignment: To post photos using flash as the main light source and as fill flash.

For this photo I decided to use the flash as the main light source. I wanted to isolate the butterfly from the background and the results were even more dramatic than I anticipated.

For this one I used fill flash. It was trickier than it looks because I was much closer in proximity to this butterfly. As a result I had to be careful that the flash wouldn't wash out the butterfly not to mention create severe hot spots on the glossy leaves.

This was taken last weekend at the YMCA Master's National Championships held in Ft. Lauderdale. This is one of my husband's teammates, Michael. The reason that I posted it was because I set the ISO to 800 to try and capture his dive. I used shutter priority and it was taken a 1/1000 sec. I compressed the image at 15% for the web. Although the grain is more evident it printed up nicely in 4x6 format.

I decided to get to the beach and practice for the full moon tonight (April 27). Having a noise reduction setting really helps for this type of image. I took it at full manual settings.. Yeah!!!

I can't think of a better way to unwind than this...
